Today in our 'Leaders in Local' series, we visit 5MU and Power FM, broadcasting across the beautiful Adelaide Hills, Murraylands and South Coast regions in South Australia.
Here are just some of the things the talented 5MU and Power FM teams have been up to in their local community:
Hero 4 Heart Kids Day
On Hero 4 Heart Kids day both the 5MU and Power FM teams, dressed up as their favourite superheroes and headed down to local Drakes Supermarkets to shake some tins and spread some joy.
The Power FM Breakfast team's costume game was strong with Damon doing his best Batman and Molly dressing as a Supermum, well played Molly!
5MU Up and Adam star Adam Connelly donned a cape and mask to re-appear as Zoro, but he did confess it was more, "Zero than Zoro."
Damon & Molly’s Flower Delivery Service
Power FM Breakfast with Damon and Molly's Flower Delivery Service brightened the hearts of some lovely people in the local region with some beautiful bouquets from the Hahndorf Market.
5MU was out and about in the region to meet friends with 5MeetU.
In doing so, a world first, Jennie Lenman broadcast from the iconic Victor Harbor Horse Drawn Tram for her program SA Today.
Karoonda Farm Fair
It was very much the Life of Brian at the Karoonda Farm Fair on April 10 when 5MU Media Sales Executive Brian Wybrow teamed up with Primary Focus journalist and host Bryan Littlely to tell the Mallee and Murraylands region fans about the station’s switch to FM and the show that’s bringing them the latest in primary industries and rural news.
Bryan delivered his Friday Primary Focus show from the popular farm fair which was cancelled in 2020 due to Covid.
Magical Mystery Tour
Power FM Breakfast’s Damon and Molly hit the road for their Magical Mystery Tour, checking out brilliant local options for school holidays such as the Woodhouse Activity Centre, Wallis Cinemas and Monarto Safari Park and more!
The Last Nairne
Craig Pitman decided to mark his move out of the Adelaide Hills township or Nairne by celebrating a week of #thelastnairne.
Listeners suggested Nairne-essential activities to fill up a week and then Craig set about fulfilling all of them including getting coffees from each of the cafes, watching sunrises, laps of the footy oval and playing a part of the Nairne Golf Course with toy clubs!
Local Sport on the Sideline View with Chris Guscott
5MU's Chris Guscott is behind the mic Saturday afternoons, covering all the latest local community sports news, local games, score updates and stories from all levels of local community sports clubs.
Chris Guscott is a sports nut; name a sport and he's played or watched it.
21 Years of Power FM
Power FM celebrated 21 years of broadcasting to Adelaide Hills, Murraylands and South Coast. The celebration got going early on Power FM with Damon and Molly popping the champagne and sharing 21st stories while plenty of our key artists left celebrating messages.
